DES MOINES, Iowa — The Des Moines city manager says he’s narrowed the field of applicants for the city’s next police chief.

Officials say there are four finalists out of the 18 total applicants. Only one is from out of town.

Michael Davis is the police chief of Northeastern University in Boston.

The other three finalists all currently work for the Des Moines Police Department. Allen Tucks is a captain with the department and Stephen Waymire and Dana Wingert are both majors.

The four finalists will participate in formal interviews January 28th and 29th.
