The Polk County sheriff’s department arrested one of its own Tuesday, a civilian employee charged with fraud.

Forty-three-year old Kimberly Sapp was arrested at her job in the civil complaints department where she is responsible for entering information about civil cases into the computer.

Sapp is charged with forgery affecting a will, deed or contract and fraudulent practice.

The sheriff’s office stresses the charges are not connected to her job.

“None of it had anything to do with her job here at the sheriff’s office.  It had to do with something totally outside this agency,” Sgt. Brent Long said.

Sergeant Long says Sapp immediately bonded out of the Polk County jail. He believes she was expecting her arrest.
