DES MOINES, Iowa – The West Des Moines Fire Department put out a DART bus fire at Valley West Mall on Saturday afternoon.

At approximately 2 p.m., a DART bus on route #52 started on fire while parked outside Valley West Mall.

The operator of the bus got passengers off the bus quickly as soon as he smelled something suspicious, and there were no injuries during the incident, according to the Des Moines Area Regional Transit Authority.

“We are very grateful that there were no injuries as a result of the fire, and are appreciative of the quick response from the West Des Moines Fire and Police Departments,” said Elizabeth Presutti, DART General Manager.

The cause of the fire is currently unknown and an investigation is ongoing.
