The Iowa Supreme Court says the film companies that received state tax credits must release production cost information.

Friday’s ruling says the public has the right to the information because public money paid the bills.

The 11 film companies said the release of the information would harm their businesses. The companies all received tax credits from the now defunct Iowa Film Office program.

The court’s ruling reversed a lower court ruling.

Now the case goes back to district court for further action.
