People in the East Village of Des Moines might be able to hear the sounds of swords clashing.

Iowa is a haven for many popular sports, from wrestling to track and even gymnastics.  One new club is hoping that fencing becomes a hit in the metro.

Photojournalist Eli Gardiner followed the Red Door Fencing Club’s first open-house.

Red Door Fencing is open Monday through Thursday from 5 p.m. until 9:30 p.m. and on Saturdays from 8 until 11 a.m.
