GRIMES, Iowa – A 47-year-old Perry man is dead after a vehicle accident in Grimes Monday morning.

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office says the accident happened around 10:40 a.m. at the intersection of Highway 141 and NE Beaverbrooke Blvd.

Officials say a rear-end crash happened when southbound traffic was stopped at the intersection for a red light. The driver of a 3/4 ton truck failed to stop for the red light and rear ended a car driven by the Perry man, pushing it into a trailer being towed by another pickup truck. The Perry man died at the scene.

The southbound lanes of NE Grimes Blvd. have reopened and normal traffic has resumed in the area.
