The magazine lists a number of events taking place in the metro.

Watching bald eagles along the Des Moines River are among the cold weather suggestions. The best spots to see the birds during the winter months are Grays Lake and between the Scott Street Dam and Southeast 14th Street Bridge.

Another option is taking in an Iowa Wild hockey game.

The team will open the season at Wells Fargo Arena on October 12th.

The Blue Ribbon Bacon Festival on February 1st will be high in many people’s list of things to do.

The magazine says visitors will, “spend hours eating thousands of pounds of bacon, and washing down bacon-inspired dishes with gallons of beer.”
