ALTOONA, Iowa — A conference focused on eliminating bullying against students who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, or questioning is being held Friday.

Iowa Safe Schools is holding its annual Governor’s Conference on LGBTQ Youth. At the conference they’ll talk about the issues relevant to the LGBTQ community and encourage diversity in communities.

The conference starts Friday morning at the Prairie Meadows Event Center in Altoona.

One of this year’s speakers, Fred Rosser, is better known by his ring name — Darren Young. He was the first WWE wrestler to come out as gay.

More than 1,000 people from over 100 Iowa communities attended last year’s meeting.
