A week of mostly dry weather helped farmers catch up in the field last week.

The USDA reports Monday that the soybean harvest in Iowa is 87-percent complete. That yield is ahead of schedule but it could be because there are fewer plants in the fields this year.

The corn crop is lagging behind but farmers are catching up. The USDA says 55-percent of the corn crop is out of the fields which is about five-percent behind the average for this date.
