An Iowa City man faces criminal charges after getting drunk, crashing into the Coralville mall and pulling a gun.

Iowa City police say the man’s escapades started at an East side apartment where he fired shots, but didn’t hit anyone.

A short time later, Coralville police say they caught up with him but not before he crashed into the Scheels sporting goods store and started shooting a gun again at around 2.30 a.m.

Nearly 7 hours later, police were finally able to arrest 23-year-old Joseph Moreno.

He faces multiple charges including drunken driving, burglary, reckless use of a firearm and intimidation with a dangerous weapon.

The Scheels store had to close Saturday but says may re-open Sunday.
