WAUKEE, Iowa — A truck driver is expected to make a full recovery after his semi went off Interstate 80 and crashed in a creek.

Iowa State Patrol Sgt. Nathan Ludwig says the driver was traveling on I-80 when he went off the road between two bridges, just west of the Alice’s Road exit. The truck landed upside down in Sugar Creek.

Officials believe the driver crashed sometime Wednesday morning. The truck driver was not rescued until a few hours later around noon after witnesses noticed the heavily damaged truck in the creek and called authorities.

The driver suffered some broken bones but is expected to be OK.
