DES MOINES, Iowa — Des Moines police officers will soon be wearing body cameras.

Chief Dana Wingert says the department will receive a private donation Friday and the money will go toward buying the cameras. The Waukee Police Department will be getting a similar donation.

The donations will be presented at 12:30 p.m. Friday at Kenworth Mid-Iowa Inc. at 4111 Delaware Ave. in Des Moines.

The announcement comes just a few days after the Urbandale Police Department received a donation to buy body cameras.
