Des Moines Shooting Believed to be Gang Related

DES MOINES, Iowa — Des Moines police now say a shooting Tuesday night appears to be gang related.

Officers responded to the 1500 block of Dean Avenue around 5:30 p.m. A few minutes after responding, Mercy Hospital called police saying a gunshot victim had arrived for treatment.

The man had been hit in the right leg. He told officers he was in the Dean Avenue area with friends when a maroon van drove up. One of the passengers got out and started firing.

No arrests have been made in the case.
