DES MOINES, Iowa — Winter break can be full of fun and learning for students in the metro.

The Des Moines Public Library is hosting a variety of activities over break. Organizers say students can always find crafts, Legos, and story times at the library.

There are also specialized programs, like Winter Survival, which brings in a naturalist from Polk County Conservation to discuss how animals settle in for the winter.

The library is also a great place to ring in the New Year.

“We’ve got some really great New Year’s celebrations. One’s at Forest and that’s for teens, and then we’ve got a whole family celebration going on at Franklin,” said Sue Woody with the Des Moines Library

Most library locations are open every day besides holidays.
