DES MOINES, Iowa — Authorities have identified a Des Moines man who was a victim of a homicide early Sunday morning.

At approximately 4:30 a.m., Des Moines Police Department officers responded to the area of 45th Street and Kingman Boulevard to investigate a report of gunshots being fired. A second call also came into police stating a person was down in the location.

Upon arrival, officers located a male victim deceased at the scene. The victim has been identified as 59-year-old Dennis Strable of Des Moines.

At Strable’s time of death, he was riding a bicycle, according to police.

This is the seventh Des Moines homicide in 2016.

Des Moines Police Department detectives are continuing to follow investigative leads in this case. Detectives are asking that anyone who has seen Mr. Strable, in recent days, or knew him, to please contact them at 515-283-4811.
