DES MOINES, Iowa — After a nationwide search, the City of Des Moines has named a new public works director.

Officials say Jonathan Gano will replace former public works director Pat Kozitza.

Gano has been tasked with balancing the department’s budget while maintaining and improving the city’s infrastructure.

Gano is from Springfield, Missouri where he served as the assistant public works director.

He starts January 26 and will receive a salary of $145,000

Kozitza officially retires today.
