DES MOINES, Iowa – It may not feel like it outside, but organizers say now is the perfect time to host a boat show.
“It’s boat show season,” said Stephen Bodenhausen, the show manager for the 2015 Des Moines Boat and Outdoor Show. “You know, people come out of the cold, and start thinking about summer. Start making summer vacation plans, buying a boat, planning fishing trips, and hunting trips, camping.”
With nearly 100 boats crammed into the Varied Industries building at the Iowa State Fairgrounds, the event, which kicked off Friday at 3:00 p.m. and closes Sunday at 4:00 p.m., features over 30 vendors for shoppers to speak with as they search for the perfect vacation machine.
“You get to see a variety of boats, you don’t just see one dealer’s brand of boats,” he said. “You see several dealers, and the different brands that they carry.”
Organizers say there’s plenty to do for the entire family – besides boat shopping – as well; seminars will be held throughout the weekend on fishing and hunting, and there’s an attraction sure to gather the kids’ attention called the “Oklahoma Bass Tub” – a 4,000 gallon tub filled with bass.
