DES MOINES, Iowa — The Des Moines Police Department is on the scene in the Chautauqua Park neighborhood after a body was discovered Tuesday morning.

Sgt. Paul Parizek with the Des Moines Police Department tells WHO 13 the death is being investigated as suspicious.

Police received a call from a resident in the neighborhood around 7:45 a.m. about a deceased person along the roadside in the 1100 block of Chautauqua Parkway.

“Certainly looks suspicious but right now we don’t have any other information on cause or manner right now,” said Sgt. Parizek.

The road is closed to traffic at this time and investigators are expected to be on the scene for the next few hours gathering evidence and processing the scene.

Police say there is no indication of ongoing danger or threat to the neighborhood.
