DES MOINES, Iowa – This weekend will be the beginning of the end of the long history of Dahl’s Stores in Des Moines.

Starting on Sunday, the name Dahl’s will disappear from the final seven stores in the Des Moines-metro area.

The store located on Merle Hay Road will close Saturday and reopen Sunday under the “Price Chopper” name. The conversion continues Monday with the stores on Ingersoll and Beaver. On Tuesday, the stores on Northwest 86th in Johnson and Hickman Road in Clive will make similar changes.

Also on Monday, the Euclid Avenue Dahl’s will reopen as “Cash Saver”. The Fleur Drive store will do the same on Wednesday.

The seven locations were purchased by Kansas-based Associated Wholesale Grocers Inc. at a bankruptcy hearing earlier this year. Three other Dahl’s stores will close altogether.
