DES MOINES, Iowa – Emergency crews are on the scene of a partial building collapse on Des Moines’ east side.
Crews responded to 1018 East 12th Street shortly before 10:15 a.m. Monday. No one was injured when the wall collapsed.
East 12th Street has been closed between Fremont and Buchanan Streets due to downed power lines from the collapse.
Officials tell Channel 13 that the property is considered a nuisance property and several notices had been sent to the building owner. Crews on the scene said that the roof of the building had previously collapsed.
A city engineer is expected to enter the building and evaluate the structure.
