Des Moines city council members are taking the last step to change the parking ordinance during snow storms.

Final approval of the new plan will be given at Monday night’s city council meeting.

The plan creates a city-wide street parking ban after a heavy snow fall, instead of a ban in only certain neighborhoods.

It would allow bigger plows to get through the city faster.

Supporters say it will save the city time and money but it also means more restrictions on where drivers can park when it snows.
