The worst of the flooding is yet to come in Johnson County but it may not get as bad as forecasters first thought.
This weekend, the Army Corps opened all the gates on the Coralville Lake Reservoir.
The lake is taking in nearly twice as much water as it’s letting out.Unlike previous predictions, officials do not expect the water to top the emergency spillway.
That means the Iowa River will not rise as high as previously thought but residents are still preparing for flooding in low lying areas.
Hundreds of volunteers donated their time this weekend to fill sandbags and protect the community.
Thanks to KWWL.
