The former Iowa City man accused of killing his wife 16 years ago has entered a not guilty plea.

Police arrested 73-year-old John Bloomfield in Saint Paul, MN last month.

Frances Bloomfield was reported missing on September 20th, 1997. Her husband called police saying he returned home from a business trip to find his Iowa City home burglarized and his wife missing.

New technology helped investigators link DNA from the crime scene to Bloomfield.

Until the arrest, the murder of Frances was considered an Iowa cold case.
