DECORAH, Iowa — Closing arguments begin Tuesday in the murder trial of a Boone man.

Alexander Fazzino is accused of killing his wife, Emily, in their home back in 2012.

The defense is trying to prove Emily’s addiction to prescription drugs caused her to accidentally drown in a bath tub.

Both sides called their final witnesses Monday.

For the prosecution, it was the forensic pathologist who performed the autopsy on Emily. She says she saw no injury in Emily’s brain that would lead her to believe she passed out and accidentally drowned.

“In this case I’m much more strongly leaning toward homicide than any other manners of death,” testified Dr. Michele Catellier, Forensic Pathologist.

Emily Fazzino’s official manner and cause of death in this case is listed as undetermined.
