Dozens of Midwest business owners say recent extreme weather events persuaded them to get on board with the president’s Climate Action Plan.

Nearly 200 businesses, including 20 from Iowa, sent a letter to President Obama.

“The Midwest can be the world’s leader in manufacturing the clean energy technologies that meet our energy needs and protect the environment for future generations,” the letter states.

It shows support for his climate plan, which he released in June.

The plan includes directing the EPA to establish carbon pollution standards for both new and existing power plants.

It also sets a new goal to reduce carbon pollution by the year 2030.
