A Des Moines family spent Christmas day in mourning, after a woman was shot to death Christmas eve.

Friends and relatives gathered to remember Johnita Clemons, and try to make sense of a senseless crime. Clemons was shot in her home on Francis Avenue Christmas Eve.

Police have questioned several people, but no arrests have been made yet.

Clemmons’ family spent Christmas trying to comfort each other, and comfort Clemons’ fourteen year old daughter and eleven year old son.

“All they wanted was their mom for Christmas. They just wanted their mom. What kid needs to have that wish for Christmas?” asks Clemon’s neice, Tanya Daniels, “Christmas Eve to lose their mom? It’s devastating for them.”

An account is being set up at Affinity Credit Union to help Clemons’ children.
