Child endangerment charges have been dismissed against a Des Moines couple that was honored nationally for adopting several children.

Thirty-eight-year-old Damien Stovall and 37-year-old Allonna Stovall were each charged with one count of child endangerment in April. They were accused of using a belt or wooden spoon to punish a six-year-old and a seven-year-old.

The charges were dismissed without prejudice earlier this month. The charges could still be refilled.

The Stovalls are parents to seven children between the ages of two and 11. In 2012 they were honored in a Washington, D.C. ceremony where they received the Angels in Adoption award.
