IOWA CITY, Iowa -- A Cedar Valley CourtKings basketball player is dead after he lost control of his vehicle on I-380 Sunday morning.

The Iowa State Patrol says 26-year-old Rashad Carrington of Cedar Rapids was driving northbound on the interstate around 3 a.m. when he lost control of his vehicle and landed in a ditch near the Highway 965 overpass.

Carrington was transported to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, where he was pronounced dead.

Carrington was the starting point guard and team leader for the Cedar Valley CourtKings, a minor league basketball team.

The accident is still under investigation.
