A northwest Iowa library stumbled on some buried treasure in their attic last week.

Primghar Library officials were digging in the attic to find old Life magazines to sell at a fundraiser.

What they found instead was a stack of World War I bond posters.

They’re still getting the posters authenticated to find out how much they’re worth.

They don’t know how they ended up in the attic.

“My theory is that, we collect things, some of us are collectors, and that our former librarians saw that these could be very interesting things to learn from, and just rolled them up and saved them for us,” says Kay Geerdes, Vice President of the Primghar Library Board.

The library plans to sell off most of the posters but keep a couple to keep on display.
