VAN METER, Iowa — Police in Van Meter say a man stole an ATM from a local bar. And finding the suspect shouldn’t be hard.  They have a very good picture of him.

Police tell us the suspect broke into Legends Field House Bar at around 2:30 Wednesday morning and pulled the ATM out using a truck and a tow rope. The thief and an accomplice then loaded it into what police believe is a late 90’s, possibly red Chevy Tahoe or Suburban.

Van Meter Police Chief William Daggett hopes that by showing  the suspect’s picture, they’ll be able to identify this thief and put him behind bars.

“The gentleman actually pushed the camera up and he looked at the camera and smiled for me so it’s just a matter of getting it out to the public and letting them see the photograph and hopefully somebody will call and say, hey that’s so and so,” Chief Daggett says.

If you recognize the suspect, please call Van Meter Police at (515) 993-4567.
