The father of one of the Evansdale cousins abducted and killed will not go on trial Monday.

Lyric Cook’s father, Dan Morrissey, was scheduled to go on trial Monday on charges of assault against his wife, Misty Morrissey.

Court officials told the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier that a witness schedule issues forced the delay of trial and a new date is not yet set.

Lyric Cook disappeared last July while riding bikes near Meyers Lake with her cousin Elizabeth Collins.

Hunters found the girls bodies in a remote wooded area in Bremer County.

Investigators have yet to release a cause of death or announce any suspects.

Elizabeth Collins funeral

The Collins family will hold a public burial service for their daughter Saturday.

It takes place at Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery.  The Cook family held a burial for Lyric earlier this month.

The families had waited for a tombstone to be created for the girls.
