FORT DODGE, Iowa — A Gowrie man is in the Webster County Jail after police say he fired shots at an apartment building early Thursday morning then fled from police.

The Fort Dodge Police Department says 22-year-old Michael White is charged with intimidation with a dangerous weapon, second-degree criminal mischief, carrying weapons, eluding and open container.

The charges stem from an incident Thursday morning in Fort Dodge. Police were called to the 2800 block of 10th Avenue North on a call of shots fired just before 3:00 a.m.

When an officer arrived he noticed a vehicle speeding away from the area. The officer tried to make a traffic stop but the driver, White, took off.

After a short chase, White stopped the vehicle in the 2300 block of 7th Avenue North and was taken into custody. A handgun was found on the ground next to the vehicle.
