AMES, Iowa — An anonymous donor wants to help light up downtown Ames for the holidays.

The Main Street Cultural District is trying to raise $80,000 to get the LED lights that line the top of the buildings back in operating order.

Cindy Hicks, Main Street Cultural District Executive Director, said, “For the 2nd year in a row, we haven’t been able to turn on the lights that line the tops of the buildings in downtown Ames.”

The anonymous donor is offering to match any 100-dollar donation made by a downtown business — up to $10,000.

All donations are tax deductible.
