Ankeny Police Release Name of Woman Killed After Being Struck by Car

ANKENY, Iowa – Officials have released the name of a woman killed after being struck by a vehicle in Ankeny.

Emergency crews responded to the crash in the 1800 block of SW Oralabor Road at about 2 p.m. Saturday. Investigators said that Jaqueline Irene Drottz, 78, of Ankeny, walked out of a ditch and into the eastbound lanes of traffic where she was struck by a vehicle. Drottz was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said  the driver is cooperating with authorities investigating the accident and they do not believe alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash. No charges have been filed.
