Ames Police say a standoff in the Northridge Neighborhood is now over.

Police say it began with a domestic situation Sunday night at a home on Sycamore Road around 11:00. The man left the home but made some threats. He returned to the home Monday morning, but the other occupants of the home were already gone.

Ames Police were called to the home after the man made more threats. He refused to come out, but did relinquish a hunting rifle to police.

The standoff ended shortly after 1:00 p.m. when the man surrendered without incident. Police say he is being evaluated at Mary Greeley Medical Center.

The man’s name has not been released. Police say no charges have been filed in the case at this point.
