Last week was one of Iowa's wettest of the year and there was limited fieldwork across the state, only 3.7 days good for field work, according to the Iowa Crop Progress report.

The report says 90 percent of the corn crop reached the dent stage, five days ahead of the five-year average. Twenty-nine percent of corn has reached maturity, three days ahead of last year, and corn conditions are rated 83 percent good or excellent.

Some producers reported seeing corn stalk rot because of the rains; likewise, soybeans saw added stress because of the rains.

About 62 percent of soybeans are coloring across Iowa, two days ahead of last year, and 19 percent are dropping leaves, about three days ahead of average. Soybean conditions are 82 percent good or excellent.
