The warm and dry weather has allowed Iowa farmers to spend a lot of time in the fields and that means almost all of the corn crop and most of the soybean crop has been planted

The Iowa Department of Agriculture says 98-percent of the corn crop is now planted and most of it has started to emerge. Eighty-one percent of the crop is rated good to excellent right now.

“Most of the crop has been planted and many farmers are now focused on any replants that might be needed or on spraying weeds. Farmers with hay fields have taken advantage of the weather to make hay in the past week,” said Iowa Ag Secretary Bill Northey.

Eighty-five percent of the soybean crop has been planted. Usually only 60-percent is in the ground at this time of year.
