ADEL, Iowa -- Even with the Raccoon River covering Highway 169, the Car Store is open for business.

On Tuesday night the Iowa DOT closed the road after water topped the road.

Even with the road closed in front of the Car Store, the car dealership remains open for business as usual.

“They usually close this street down, it’s kind of wild that it’s happening in December," said Car Store Office Manager, Agella Losee. "It’s usually an every spring type of occurrence makes things a little quieter, a little less drive by traffic but other wise it’s business as usual."

The Car Store opened 10 years ago on the north edge of Adel. That year owner Ron Plagman was called in the middle of the night to move the cars away from the water.

"We've had to move them a couple of times in 2008, and 2010, because the pavement on the north side got wet," said Losee.

Though traffic by the store is limited, customers can still drive into the dealership, via the south driveway.
