ADAIR, Iowa -- An Adair County mother says her children were abused at their daycare, and she says the agencies that are in place to help abused children are doing nothing to help her.

5-year-old Janaeya Blomquist and 4-year-old sister Elianna are all smiles during a water balloon fight Thursday. But that wasn't the case just a couple of weeks ago. That's when their mother says she found out her daughters were being spanked and called obscene names by the workers here at a daycare in Orient. Even weeks later, their mother says the girls panic when they have to go to bed.  "And they will squat down and cover their rear ends and say alright mom, we'll go to bed. please don't spank us. or please don't whoop us," Melanie Blomquest said.

Blomquest says she called DHS, and the agency said there was not enough evidence for an investigation, even though she says DHS never interviewed her or her daughters. The owner of the daycare and the DHS supervisor overseeing the case both refused to comment.
