3 Confirmed Tornadoes in Central Iowa

DES MOINES, Iowa — The National Weather Service confirmed Thursday that three tornadoes hit central Iowa on Wednesday.

An EF-1 tornado hit the city of  Knoxville at 3:43 p.m., lasting about four minutes. The tornado’s path was about 3.9 miles long, with a peak wind speed of 110 mph.

Barnes City was also hit by an EF-1 tornado at 4:23 p.m., lasting about six minutes. The tornado’s path was about 4.9 miles long, with a peak wind speed of 107 mph.

The Lake Panorama and Yale area was hit by an EF-0 tornado at 2:58 p.m., lasting about four minutes. The tornado’s path was about 3.2 miles long, with a peak wind speed of 84 mph.
