BOONE, Iowa — The historic Wagon Wheel Bridge partially collapsed Thursday afternoon.

Iowa DNR officials say the west side of the bridge collapsed because of the damage it sustained a few weeks ago by ice jams in the Des Moines River.

The bridge was built in 1911, according to the Iowa History Bridge Inventory.
