The COVID-19 pandemic has upended the education system and created many difficulties for school districts. From how to safely provide in-person learning to making sure students who are distance learning have the tools to do so — the financial impact on school districts is immense.

WHO 13 wants to help connect those willing to donate money or items, with the schools and booster organizations in need.

Please take look at the needs of central Iowa school districts and donate if you are able.

School District****How to Donate/District’s Needs****
Ankeny Community School DistrictNeeded cleaning/sanitizing items are 5’s of Oxivir, Spilfyter Wipes, Drums of Purell Surface, Disposable Masks, Gloves. Please send/take them directly to the Ankeny Community School District warehouse at 1513 SE Cortina Dr., Ankeny, IA 50021. Receiving hours are M-F, 8 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Johnston Community School District–Donations for unpaid/in debt lunch account balances can be dropped off or sent to any school building.
–Warm clothing/cold-weather gear for children of all ages and sizes can be donated to The Johnston Partnership. The Partnership works directly with Johnston families in need. You can also make monetary donations here.
–The Johnston Community School Foundation is also accepting donations here.
Ogden Community School DistrictOgden Community Schools are in need of additional child and adult disposable masks. Masks can be sent directly to elementary or secondary buildings. A monetary donation can be made to the district office and specified for the following purpose.
Southeast Polk Community School District–Donations of children’s winter clothing for Warm Kids, Warm Hearts can be made at every elementary building in the district.
— Families who want to participate in Season of Sharing can contact a school counselor or Amy Anderson, the PK-12 At-Risk Coordinator, at amy.anderson@southeastpolk.org.
–Donations of headphones for students learning remotely are needed and can be dropped off at school offices.

Woodward-Granger Community School DistrictCommunity Support Drive – November 14th, 2020:
–Warm clothing/cold-weather gear for individuals of all ages and sizes, non-perishable food items, personal care items, and paper products can be donated to Woodward-Granger Schools (MS/HS and Elementary). The schools work directly with community families in need. You can also make monetary donations to the Granger Methodist Church, Stone Bridge Church, and/or Woodward-Granger Schools.
